Please take a few moments to reflect upon your experience with LoTi. You may use the questions below to guide your thinking and response.
How are you currently using LoTi in your school or district?
What do you see as the value of using LoTi?
What questions would you like answered about LoTi in the next two days?
We will be discussing this more in depth as a group shortly.

Red Clay is using Engaging Students - an awesome LoTi course. It is a required part of the SMART Board training we have initiated this year.
ReplyDeleteLoTi is soooo valuable...I just wish administration would 'require' it for all teachers to come into the 21st century!
Question - How do we get the administration to see the value of LoTi?
We are currently using LOTI as a survey of technology use in the classroom and as an assessment of teachers' technology skills. Loti offers the opportunity to determine what Professional Development opportunities we should offer our staff.
ReplyDeleteAt CR, we ask that teachers take the LOTI survey every Spring.
ReplyDeleteIt provides a vocabulary for understanding depth of technology integration.
What is new? (I have been out of the loop for several years.)
As a school, we are using LoTi as an assessment tool to determine the current level of technology integration. We need to learn how to utilize this data in order to make real changes in how we integrate technology. In the past, the biggest barrier to technology integration has been the lack of technology in the classroom. This is changing and we hope to be able to use our LoTi data to provide ongoing support and guidance to the teachers for full integration of technology in classroom instruction.
ReplyDeleteCaesar Rodney teachers take the survey each spring. Mainly we use it for the required data for the consolidated grant but it also gives us a common language to use as we do training.
ReplyDelete* We take the LoTi Survey each spring. Buildings decide whether or not to use the data in their school improvement plans. At the district level we analyze the data and make decisions on PD and how to spend funds. The data is also reported in our Consolidated Grant.
ReplyDelete* It gives teachers/admin a chance to reflect on their use of technology at least one time a year. The seperate strands of data are useful.
We require our teachers to complete the survey every year. I notify our principal when the teachers are complete so the administation team can look at the results to, hopefully, plan future workshops. I send a list to the principal of the teachers who have not completed the survey and we send out a reminder letter. I run reports for the grant writer for the Consolidated Grant.
ReplyDeleteWhen completing the survey myself I have an opportunity to see what we need to stive for in professional development for our teachers.
In the next two days I hope to develop some stategies of having our teacher value the information they get from the survey. I also hope to get new direction sheets for the teachers to sign on.
>Our district takes the LoTi survey each year in the spring. Many of our buildings use this data in their school improvement plans.
ReplyDelete>We use this data to gauge what professional development our teachers need in order to integrate technology more effectively into instruction.
I am the new instructional technology coach for our district so this will be the first year I am being "exposed" to LoTi... I know that the LoTi survey is sent out throughout the district to obtain data regarding how technology is being used in our district as well as what are some technology needs.
ReplyDeleteI see the value of LoTi as being a springboard for collaboration and implementation of technology integrated strategies to be used with students in the classroom.
Questions I have would include firstly, what exactly is LoTi? How can survey results be used to help a district identify technology goals? and What resources/support is there for acheiving those goals?
I require my Wilmington University students to create a tech-integrated lesson plan that meets a LoTi level 3 or above so they have experience evaluating the higher-order thinking involved as well as look at how the technology is being used within the lesson.
ReplyDeleteQuestions:
Where is LoTi headed? What new initiatives is LoTi exploring?
What changes have you seen in the data since moving to the new survey?
We do not currently invest a lot of time into the data.
ReplyDeleteWe feel we get our best data through an anonymous survey in which every staff member participates.
Lots of questions, but mostly how can I make my staff more aware of the history and purpose of LoTi.
This is my first LoTi training, as I just transitioned from the classroom. My experience with LoTi includes the completion of the survey annually for our school district. LoTi has tremendous value as we plan district initiatives to become more connected with technology. I look forward to learning more in the next two days in terms of how it can help students, staff, and the district as a whole.
ReplyDeleteWe are adding new technology in che classroom this year with the addition of SmartBoards in all classrooms. Also we are supplying all teachers with laptops to use with these Smartboards.
ReplyDeleteWe are continually using our in-service days to update the teachers with the skills necessary to add technology to the classroom.
In order to engage the students in today's classroom it is necessary to integrate learning with whatever technology that is available.
I just want more information about how we can enhance the value of technology in more creative ways.
We (NCCVT) use the data in a cursory way or as a compliance issue in our Balanced Scorecard. We REALLY need to use it more effectively in planning training for our teachers and administrators.
ReplyDeleteWe currently have staff complete the LoTi survey once a year. As our school improvement plan, we are attempting to raise teacher LoTi scores by at least one level in one area. Administrators have also incorporated some technology Look Fors in their walk thoughs to provide teachers with ongoing feedback. LoTi framework is helpful in getting technology integration to shift towards a more student-centered focus. I would like some guidelines on how to interpret some of the questions on the survey. They seem very involved and confused teachers last year.
ReplyDeleteI think the value of using the LoTi scale for teachers is that it provides a common vocabulary to be able to discuss ideas and it provides clear steps as to how to move to the next level.
ReplyDeleteLoTi is our statewide framework for instructional technology. We use the concepts to discuss best practice in integration and so that we are all on the same page. We use the survey so that teachers can self-assess themselves with regard to tech integration. The survey data is used by the ditricts in their consolidated application to meet the NCLB reporting requirements . I'd like to see the data used more actively in professional development.
ReplyDeleteThe Learning Focused initiative (almost statewide) has given us the opportunity to have discussions about tech integration. I hope that this PD gives us a renewed energy and focus with LoTi.
We currently do not use the data to its fullest extent. However, it is valuable because professional develoment can be planned to maximize teacher time. The main question I have is how can I get practical ideas for the teachers to utilize in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteSome of our teachers have been trained, but most of what I hear is that they dont have time. Hopefully as a cadre member, I can help change that outlook.
